Hi, I’m sandy
I bring over 20 years of experience in human resources, professional development, and program/project management. My expertise has been in designing experiential and high-impact programs to accelerate learning and professional development, including leadership and executive development programs, engineering and technology conferences and lectures, intern onboarding and mentoring, networking and competency building. My career has always centered on fostering talent and enabling opportunities to learn and grow.
I am a certified WOW essay writing coach, and I am completing my certification in College Admissions and Career Planning from UC Berkeley Extension (expected Spring 2025). As a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and the Western Association for College Admissions Counseling (WACAC), I attend professional conferences, tour colleges and volunteer to keep abreast of the latest changes in admissions, to deepen my knowledge, to advance and learn new skills, and to grow my professional network. I am also a volunteer with a San Francisco bay area non-profit to review applications and conduct interviews for the selection of first-gen scholars to receive scholarships, mentoring and career services.

In the context of working with high school and college students, I think my early formative experiences are also an important part of my story to share with families. Throughout high school and college, I worked at a variety of part-time jobs while balancing academics and extracurricular activities. My part-time jobs included being a restaurant hostess, donut shop server, KAPLAN test prep advisor, Barnes & Noble’s bookseller, Industrial Light & Magic HR benefits intern, and UC Berkeley employment and compensation intern.
With the help and support of my sister and grandparents I was able to attend college after taking a gap semester. I double-majored in 4 years, earning a B.S. in Business Administration and a B.A. in Mass Communications from UC Berkeley. I was also active in Alpha Phi Omega (co-ed community service fraternity) and Alpha Kappa Psi (co-ed business fraternity), serving in the leadership roles of pledge mom and Secretary.
The life lessons learned have been invaluable and ultimately shape who I am and my purpose today. I now have my own family, including a daughter, and managing my own small business. I am excited to work closely with students tailoring and empowering their college admissions and early career planning. I look forward to working together and am grateful to have a small part in your amazing journey!
